Report on Parliamentary Hearings on Female Genital Mutilation (2000)

This report is based on the Parliamentary hearings on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) held by the APPG on PDRH. The hearings were held on 23 and 24 May 2000 in the Palace of Westminster. The first hearing was for witnesses from the UK and covered issues such as training, the effectiveness of the law against FGM, support services and care available, and work with community-based organisations. The second day of the hearings was for witnesses from Europe and beyond and covered activities in other EU countries with migrant populations who are likely to practice FGM. Evidence was also taken from the TOSTAN project in Senegal, RAINBO and the UNFPA.
